Restaurant Review - Falafel Place

I have been meaning to do a review for this place. We actually live pretty close to where this little place is – it’s a pretty central location which is nice. The food is absolutely delicious and worth the price!

Colin ordered their breakfast with falafels, and also a gluten free waffle. This place is awesome, the staff are friendly and chipper – and they offer gluten free options on the menu. This will definitely be our ONLY breakfast place we go to.The price is awesome, you can get a huge breakfast here for like $10.

Heres some pictures of Colin's amazing gluten free breakfast.

The one and only complaint I would have is that the place is pretty small, and extremely popular, so it can become quite cramped and loud. Besides that, the food is well worth it, what a great experience. If you are in the Winnipeg area come here to eat even if you don’t have to eat gluten free! Mmmm… We are wanting to go back and try something from their lunch/supper menu.

  2. This food looks amazingly delicious! Is this place near downtown? If not can you recommend any restaurants downtown that are GF or GF friendly? We will be in Winnipeg for a business trip and I need to know where the good places to eat are. I'd love a local's opinion.

  3. Hi Gloria!
There is a couple of different places that I can make recommendations to visit. All are within 10-20 minute drive of downtown.

This place listed above (The Falafel Place) has an awesome menu: http://www.falafelplace.ca/

Secondly is a place called Sukhothai. I was very impressed as the waitress informed me that gluten was not an issue (a lot of their dishes have rice noodles which are safe), and that she would inform the kitchen to use glutenfree soya sauce instead. I do not believe they have a website, but I have eaten here and it is delicious. It’s in the Osborne area, at 191 Osborne Street.

Thirdly is a place that is a little further from downtown but not by much, maybe a 15 minute drive. This is our go-to place for supper. The tacos are so delicious and their entire menu is glutenfree. I absolutely love their soup they have (you taste a lot of cilantro though so if you do not like that then I might ask them not to add extra cilantro for garnish) http://www.moderntacocompany.ca/ is their website.

If you do happen to discover any hidden gems downtown that are gluten free I would appreciate you letting me know.

    Happy eating,
    GlutenFreeWife
